The Story
It’s a time-worn story of baby dragon fleeing the nest and being pursued up hill and down dale by its mother. A classic. We’ve all been there. This particular baby dragon needs to collect diamonds and speed vials in order to progress as well as learning to ‘skyfly’ in order to keep one-step ahead of its hulking parent.
The Experience
Controlling your dragon is simple. You need to tap and hold the screen to build up speed as you hurtle down an incline and then, when you reach the lowest point of the drop before you begin to climb again, you release the screen and, hopefully, you soar into the sky covering vast distances and keeping a decent gap between you and your pursuer. And that’s literally it. No on-screen D-pad or complex combinations of key presses to concern yourself with, just tap or not to tap. Simple. Anyone who’s played Tiny Wings on iOS will get the gist, it’s essentially the same game with a mildly different plot.
Each level requires a different combination of skills in order to unlock the next level. You might need to ‘swoosh’ three times in a row (follow the curve of three hills particularly well before launching into the air), or collect 100 diamonds, or perhaps collect 10 speed flasks while ‘skyflying’ (gliding to the uninitiated). The challenges themselves are particularly tricky, meaning you’ll need to keep playing and playing to progress and upgrade your dragon – thankfully, the game has the requisite qualities to keep you doing that.
Dragon, Fly is addictive, challenging and, perhaps most importantly, free. What’s not to like?
The Bottom Line
Simple, hugely addictive Tiny Wings clone that plugs a gaming hole in Android Market
