As we’ve all learnt from the Daily Mail, if there’s one thing guaranteed to drive down the price of your property, it’s a dragon infestation. As always, prevention is the answer, so grab your bow, take aim and blast the bothersome fire-breathing behemoths before they reach your battlements…

THE EXPERIENCE

Okay, firstly, it should really be called something like Dragon Slayer, as there’s not an awful lot of ‘hunting’ involved in this delightfully simplistic game. But that tiny detail aside, if you’ve got time to kill and want to have fun while you throttle the life out of it, then Dragon Hunter is your best bet today.

A basic aim and shoot affair, only those with no sense of spatial awareness at all will be overly challenged, as even loosely targeted arrows tend to hit their mark. However, as the airborne assaults get heavier there’s every chance some scaly scoundrels will escape your bombardment and wreak havoc on your home, forcing you to send repairmen to fix the damage while you continue to ensure his winged pals get the point and collect the corpses for food – hey, these are tough times!

With coins to collect from your culling, you can soon start to upgrade both your castle and your arsenal, adding special arrows and magical powers to give you the edge over your aerial adversaries.

THE BOTTOM LINE

If you’re looking for a heavy, backstory thick, time-investor, look elsewhere; Dragon Hunter is all about filling those moments stuck on trains, waiting outside changing rooms, or trapped down a well. Combining basic graphics with a basic story and basic, but smooth, gameplay, this is a crowd-pleaser which, although in danger of becoming rather repetitive, is a great quick-fix solution to tedium.
