THE STORY

Suggesting that the world economy is not as bad as the economists say, summer is here and, as such, Irma is off on holiday to Hawaii. But so slap-dash is she about her business affairs she’s got nobody lined-up to run the diner in her absence. Naturally then, she turns to a lazy, lasagne-obsessed cat and his sleepy eyed owner. I can only presume she’s independently wealthy…

THE EXPERIENCE

Once upon a time, before the Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, South Park and American Dad, Garfield the cat was the cutting-edge of biting cartoon comedy. Fat, lazy, sardonic and generally not your ideal restaurateur, the task here is to keep the customers happy by seating them, feeding them, watering them and charging them before they lose patience and storm out… which doesn’t take long.

So, with increasing numbers heading through the door, it’s down to you to play service-triage based on each customer’s demands and mood, earning cash to hire more staff, keeping more people happier longer and increasing your profits to upgrade diner equipment and give yourself the advantage.

With Garfield Cards to collect along the way and surprise guests stopping by (it helps if you remember the cartoons, of course), graphics are straight from the strip and, keeping fans of the witty kitty on their toes, there’s no end to the action in this culinary caper.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Released to coincide with Garfield’s 34^th birthday, the cartoon cat’s antics may seem a little tame these days in comparison with his contemporaries, but Garfield’s Diner is fun free from cynicism that comes creatively constructed and utterly addictive. Some might say it was purrfect… but we wouldn’t be so cheap.
