THE STORY
Halloween is just around the dark, sinister corner and, as should come as no surprise to anyone interested in Android apps’ seeming obsession, the zombie apocalypse will probably arrive with it, just to make trick or treaters at the door even more of an annoyance. So, take no chances and train up now with the military mercenary no mercy of Global Outbreak…
THE EXPERIENCE
Another week, another undead end of world scenario; but as we are now in the run-up to everyone’s favourite pagan festival and celebration of Satan and all his little imps, it would seem churlish not to include this fresh addition to the flesh eating Android cannon, particularly as, unlike many others of its apocalyptic action ilk, it’s actually rather good.
A killer virus has spread around the globe, seemingly originating from huge pods that burst out of the ground, the result: zombie-a-go-go. You, as the head of the world’s top tactical take-em-down team must hit the streets, make the head-shots and pop a cap in the pods to stop the spread of the shambling should-be-dead.
Essentially a top down tactical move-n-shoot, Global Outbreak eschews the predictable, tried, tested and somewhat tired formula of full-on in-your-face guts and gore, favouring instead a campaign approach that challenges you to select your soldiers by skill-sets, train them, arm them with upgrades and deploy them across differing terrain, nicely tailored around your own location using your device’s GPS.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Set within a well designed, vibrant and detailed 3D environment, with good graphics and sharp sound effects, Global Outbreak is enjoyable, tense, at times intense, and eminently playable. If this is the imminent zombie apocalypse, bring it on!
