THE STORY
A right royal social gamer for kingdom building kingpins everywhere, Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle is a case of Pict and mix as you struggle to shape your city and fend off the unwanted advances of your enemies…
THE EXPERIENCE
Following a classic gaming format, the backstory is that Chief of the Picts (not to be confused with pixies), Dru mac Erp (not to be confused with a rapper) has invaded with his band of brutal brothers and is steadily making both his way across country and the act of staying alive difficult for everyone he meets. King Lot of Lothian has had his lot at the hands of Dru and his widow, Arthur’s half-sister, Morgause, has requested your knightly assistance.
Starting out with a small village full of untrained village bumpkin types, you’re tasked with building it into a mighty citadel worthy of Camelot itself and them into a Pict-punishing army of regional repute. Piece by piece you complete quests to build, upgrade and expand your territory, given six days of attack-free grace to get yourself organised and established before the real game begins and you find yourself fighting on many fronts.
Not just a matter of continually evolving your city, as it’s a social game you can also choose to form strategic alliances with other players nearby… or wage all-out war, if you’re not the neighbourly kind. Between this and the attacks from Dr Dru, there are also tournaments to attend and coin aplenty to be made.
THE BOTTOM LINE
A nice blend of slow-burning city builder and better-be-ready battler, Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle boasts some nice, detailed graphics and more to keep you occupied than most. Fun, featured and offering almost endless entertainment, settle deep in your saddle for the long-game.
