THE STORY

If one thing became painfully clear from this week’s Budget, it’s that we’re all doomed. Badly doomed. Even more doomed than we were last week. In fact ‘doom’ is the only thing we now have an abundance of. So with belts tightened to the point of bisection and austerity the new black, thank the cut-price gods for Koopio!

THE EXPERIENCE

A one-stop search engine that works out your location and then scours the daily deal big guns, such as Groupon and Livingsocial etc, this handy, free app lists all the available deals in your immediate area, whether that be cut-price cheese graters, discounted driving lessons or a bargain boiler service (all on today’s offers), in one easy to scan and scroll page.

If your needs are a little more specific, such as more the need to be able to afford to eat rather than snap up a cheap cheese grater, you can browse via the set categories or really narrow things down with an Advanced Search. Once you spot something you like a click on Koopio takes you directly to the original offer site and page and, well, it’s job done.

There are other aspects too that seem a little surplus to requirement. For example, who really cares what deals are currently trending? And why is there a Map facility… a Map facility that, despite the app pinpointing my location as ‘Essex’, is convinced I’m in a small logging town in the backwaters of Canada? Weird, ay?

THE BOTTOM LINE

But Canadian confusion aside, Koopio is the fastest, free-ist way to snap up the bargains without having to endure all the inbox-clogging emails from the various deal sites, keeping costs down and your hard-earned safely in your pocket… despite the best efforts of ‘Gorgeous’ George Osborne.
