The Story

Let’s Create! Pottery is one of the most inventive games we’ve seen on Life of Android. You create pottery and then sell it to unlock new materials, colours and graphics, which allow you to make ever more complex pots.

The Experience

While we featured Let’s Create in our Top Five Bizarre Android Apps feature, we had a sneaking suspicion that this had a little more to it than the other apps on offer.

You begin the game as a novice potter desperate to raise some cash, so it’s a case of diving straight in and creating a piece to sell. The control method is relatively simple, although it takes time to create the necessary curves you’ll need to be successful. Using our touchscreen you gently stroke your finger from right to left to reduce the width of a particular area of your pot, or swipe left to right to increase your pot’s diameter. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it, but you’ll soon be creating complex shapes.

Once you’re happy with the shape of your pot, you’ll need to fire it and then paint/decorate it. Visit the shop and there are a vast number of colours, decorations and ornaments to buy and add to your pots as you progress. Some cost just a few coins and others cost hundreds or even thousands.

How do you get coins? Well, you sell your pottery via auction, or you accept orders via the games email inbox, where people send orders and give advice, encouragement and praise. As you complete orders, you’ll get more and more complex requests and once you’ve completed them all and bought everything in the shop, Let’s Create! still has plenty of longevity as you create more and more outlandish creations.

So far from just being bizarre, Let’s Create Pottery is also a cracking game. Oh, and there’s a website to upload your creations to compare with your fellow Android potters in case you feel the need…
