We love a good race app here at the epicentre of Android, something to test our razor-sharp reactions, our ability to stay right on the racing line, and our skills at mastering a steering system sillier than something out of the Wacky Races. Luckily for us, Mini Motor Racing ticks all the boxes.

Mixing splendidly detailed 3D graphics with controls more sensitive than a bad tempered barometer, needless to say, speed is of the essence in this app and little more matters. To that end, select your starter motor, take it round the track to test her out, and then get upgrading to stand a chance of taking the chequered flag using either prize money won or, more likely, via the assistance of in-app purchases.

With a wide range of lovingly rendered tracks to tackle, covering Islands, Tarmac, Alpine, Safari etc, the option to play in Career or Quick Race modes, cups galore to claim, and a whopping 120 races available in the Original Championship section with some 92 more to motor through in Bonus Championship, there’s plentiful play on offer here to keep you youthful forever.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Undeniably fun despite the barrier-bothering steering and the extra expenditure expected, Mini Motor Racing has the look of a labour of love for the devs at The Binary Mill, is instantly addictive and, allowing for four-way multiplayer over Wi-Fi, even lets you face and race your friends.
