The Story
Moo, Baa, La La La! is Sandra Boynton’s second interactive book for Android, following on from The Going to Bed Book and, given that we already know that Android users are painfully slow on the uptake with paid-for apps (or notorious skinflints – you decide), it’s no surprise that these apps are taking a while to hit their sales stride. In any case, we thought it was high-time we took a look at some more children’s entertainment apps on Android, so we have…
The Experience
You’re greeted with a gorgeous menu screen that gives you the option to have the book read to you (where you turn the pages), reading the book yourself, or watching the book as an animated slideshow with narration.
If there’s one drawback of the book – and indeed most Android educational books – it’s that the narration is in an American accent, albeit not as hugely irritating a one as some books. Of course you can always read the book yourself if it’s that big an issue.
Moo, Baa, La La La! is beautifully drawn and gloriously animated. There’s plenty to amuse young children, although you can’t help thinking that an interactive game or two would differentiate it from the printed version and make the outlay a little more palatable. Still, it’s a cracking children’s book, improved no end by a spot of interaction.
And if you want to see the app in action, check out the video below…
The Bottom Line
Beautiful children’s educational app that might cost, but delivers in terms of interaction.
