What do you know about space? If you like Star Trek you probably know it’s the final frontier; if you like Douglas Adams you probably know it’s big… really big; or if you like Brian Cox you probably know that everything in space is doomed to destruction through entropy. But only one group really know anything about space: NASA. And now they’re sharing that knowledge with Android users…
An app that’s cooler than a cosmic cucumber, NASA are – obviously – the authority on all things ‘space’ having dabbled in it, I think it’s fair to say, a bit more than most. Well now they’re letting us boldly go too, opening the airlock on access to literally thousands of eye-popping photos, out-of-this-world on demand videos, mission info both historic and current, and ample educational news and features to fill the space in your head.
The only official NASA app available, the Cape Kennedy crew have been keen to show they have a less geeky side too by throwing in Third Rock Radio as well – the out-there obsessives’ own rock ’n’ roll radio station; something for everyone, then.

THE BOTTOM LINE
As you’d hope with an app about rocket science, the whole thing runs smoothly and quickly, bringing up info and video with equal atmosphere escaping speed and never failing to stagger with photos of striking star clusters, insider info, or even some unexpected playlist numbers from the radio station. For anyone with an interest that reaches beyond the sky, the NASA App is an extraterrestrial essential.
