THE STORY

Pirates are not really famed for their gregarious social abilities, but the latest installment in the Disneyfied life of the buccaneer is a seven seas sailing social gamer that encourages you to build and upgrade your boat, hire a crew and plough your plundering, barnacle-bottomed way through the waves, attacking other ships for their booty and exploring exotic islands in a bid to become Master of the Seas! D’ar…

THE EXPERIENCE

Avast! Avast! Avast amount of piratical references are to follow! Combining a backstory that purports to take in pretty much most of the known Pirates of the Caribbean universe, some excellent graphics and a soundtrack lifted straight from the movies, it’s amazing just how addictive this game can be. Whilst quests tend to be multiple choice guess work based on your privateer prowess, the real fun comes when you do open battle with other players, out-gun ’em with upgrades and send ’em deep down into Davy Jones’ Locker like the scurvy dogs they be!

Of course, as a freemium title, there’s only so far you can get before your stamina is drained and you either endure the (what feels like) epic wait for it to restore, or you start spending real pieces of eight buying ‘gems’ in the online store. However, that be the price of pillaging progress, matey.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Send ye powder monkeys to the poop deck and get your scallywags ship-shape before they end up shark-bait! Which roughly translates as: a fun freemium for all the family, download, get your friends involved and set sail on a social odyssey of adventure on the high Android seas.
