The Story

Reflexions is one of the most fiendishly addictive puzzle games for Android that we’ve played in some time. You’ll need quick wits and even sharper reflexes to master this deliciously cheap download but it’s well worth putting your dormant grey cells to the test.

The Experience

The idea of Reflexions is pretty easy to grasp, in practice it’s anything but. Your goal is to navigate a spark of light to a map’s exit which is unlocked by collecting a number of strategically placed diamonds. To control your spark, you have to bounce it off the many mirrors placed around the level. Tapping a mirror changes the angle of its reflection and the less taps you use to guide a beam to the exit, the better the star rating you’re awarded for completing the level.

Since puzzle apps are not our strong suit, it certainly took us a while to get to grips with Reflexions. Not that it’s especially tough, we were just especially slow in getting to grips with the various tricks you can use to flick a beam around each carefully designed landscape. The trick is to arrange the mirrors as a whole rather than as individual pieces of the puzzle, as well as knowing when to utilise a good old fashioned wall bounce.

With over 40 puzzles to play through and several layers of difficulty such as teleporters and explosive mines added in for good measure, the value you’ll get out of the £0.69 you spend on Reflexions is quite astounding. If we were being harsh we’d waggle a finger at the derivative neon graphical sheen the app borrowed from Spirit HD but for the most part this is an innovative and highly rewarding app that it’s very hard to find fault with.
