You better watch out, you better not cry, you’d better not pout, I’m telling you why: Santa Claus is coming to town. And the good news is that this year you can track his mysterious movements and be sure that the sound of boots on your roof is the jolly fat elf himself and not just some drunk stealing your Christmas decs…
Once every year a chubby loner leaves his frozen hermitage and forces his team of long-suffering ungulates to drag his bloated body to every home on Earth. Once there he magically squeezes his corpulent frame down the narrowest opening to those homes, eats a mince pie, downs a sherry and then leaves a trinket behind for any child he has judged (like Simon Cowell does) to have spent the previous 12 months being ‘nice’.
As justice systems go, it’s a little antiquated, but the kids seem to like it and so it goes on. However, in line with the Elf and Safety Act of 2009, he’s now forced by the authorities to wear a GPS leg tag, just in case there’s an ‘incident’ at any of the billions of addresses he attends on Christmas Eve and he’s too far gone on sherry to account for his whereabouts at the time.
The upshot of this is that, thanks to Google, now Android imbued kids can watch in real time as Santa makes his way across the globe to them! Featuring maps, a moving Santa icon, GPS tracking, current location and next location info, ETAs, duration of visit and even the number of presents delivered, Santa Tracker (obviously) doesn’t actually kick off until the 24th
so doesn’t do much right now, but come Monday you can unleash the magic on your mobile.
