THE STORY
Once upon a time, in the dark old days of the world, photography was not digital. The massively inconvenient upshot of this oversight was that pictures had to be printed from archaic ‘film’ onto a by-product of trees called ‘paper’ – a ludicrously convoluted process that left photos stuck in dilapidated albums or simply stuffed away forever out of sight in a shoebox somewhere. ShoeBox? Now there’s an idea…
THE EXPERIENCE
If you or your ancestors were born before the digital camera revolution, of which there’s an excellent chance, there’s an equally excellent chance that you’ll have a pile of pics somewhere begging to be sorted and saved. Normally this would involve a bank-bothering trip to Boots to have them scanned and stuck on a CD for you, but no longer, thanks to the snap-happy work of genius that is ShoeBox!
Simply re-shoot your papery pics with your smartphone, ShoeBox auto-detects the edges and perfects perspective to correct the cack-handed, then you simply create a ‘shoebox’, punch in all the relevant details – names, dates, locations, tags etc – and upload it to your private collection. And there it is: your photographic memories are digitalised and preserved for posterity.
With full password protection, you needn’t worry about pics of you being pinched by advertising types and subsequently turning up on advertisement hoardings warning about the dangers of obesity, but by the same token you can share your password and therefore your shoeboxes with family and friends, turning the act of flicking through the old family album thoroughly 21st century.
THE BOTTOM LINE
An app that makes the act of archiving amazingly easy, not even the most ham-fisted technophobe could fail to be up and uploading within minutes. Cleanly designed, precise and concise, ShoeBox is the smartest, slickest, loose-snap solution yet.
