THE STORY
Spooky story to help you happily into Halloween? Eerie epic for the eagle of eye on All Hallows’ Eve? Haunted hidden object happening set in creepy Crimson Hill? Now there’s a bit of luck: welcome to The Haunt 2…
THE EXPERIENCE
We’ve not indulged in a clue collating mystery muller for some time, so what could be more apt at this tricking and treating time of year than an app that adds to the apple bobbing atmosphere with a goodly helping of ghosts? Precisely.
As with all the best/most supernaturally troubled real estate in the US, the town of Crimson Hill was foolhardily built on the scene of a savage Civil War skirmish and subsequently, the sacred ground disturbed, the souls of the slaughtered soldiers have risen. Now causing all kinds of spooky scrapes for the locals, you’ve been summoned as the world’s paramount paranormal private investigator to follow the scent, seek out the clues and solve the mystery that’ll bust those ghosts back into the ground.
A point and tap adventure, The Haunt 2 comes beautifully designed with some strikingly detailed artwork and photo-realistic graphics. A little slow, perhaps, as far as gameplay is concerned, but this is a lavish labour of love from Sythesis that should be savoured. On the puzzle front, it’s not the most taxing of hidden object apps, but then with the far from straightforward story to follow, mini-games galore and an original spine-chilling soundtrack to see you along, there’s plenty here to keep you busy.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Engaging, entertaining and as original as object finders get, The Haunt 2 is a perfectly paced puzzler for those seeking something a little pumpkin-flavoured. Favouring the feeling of fear over gratuitous guts and gore, if you’re looking for an app alternative to the average corpse killer, head down to Crimson Hill…
