THE EXPERIENCE

Okay, it’s not Lego and any resemblance to Lego living or dead is purely coincidental. And now the legal issues are firmly dealt with, what we have here is an Angry Birds-aping app that uses a combination of cartoon character animation, enemy AI and some immersive gameplay to deliver a pleasing physics puzzler possibly on a par with the aforementioned catapult propelled pigeons.

Across over 100 levels, Toy Shot challenges and frustrates as you use your cunning, guile, luck and, of course, massive amounts of trial and error to topple the terrorisers and win back the non-Lego lady from the evil army, using a widespread array of inventive weapons of mass distraction.

Control makes full use of your device’s touchscreen and accelerometer to keep you on your toes as you move from unique level to unique level, making for a game that’s guaranteed to keep you guessing.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Colourful, well-conceived and thoroughly enjoyable, Toy Shot is just the latest in a crowded field of physics-based freemiums, and while there are certainly a lot of similarities to others of its ilk, Toy Shot is a hugely playable, nicely detailed and well-developed app that passionate puzzle practitioners should lap up.
