Tweetdeck social networking app for Android

Manage Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more with Tweetdeck

The Story

One app to rule all your social networks. TweetDeck integrates Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Foursquare accounts into one convenient place.

Already a hit on desktops and iPhones, Tweetdeck’s Android incarnation will be welcomed by promiscuous social network addicts.

THE EXPERIENCE

Tweetdeck keeps its trademark white-on-black style intact here, Along with one-touch access to posting updates, one tap takes you to a page of favourite contacts, displaying their profiles on demand.

Once you’ve signed in to each account, updates appear in the stream. While the desktop Tweetdeck can be rendered in multiple columns, here just one displays everything.

Swipe sideways and the main list is replaced by replies, another swipe and you’ll see direct messages.

The latest version includes improved photo upload and URL shortening, and posting updates for one or more accounts is simple.

Where Twitter timestamps each message, here the clock is nicely placed at top of the screen. But the minimal stylishness is undermined by the way the scroll simply stops when you reach the bottom of the page – where’s the cute elastic bounce we know and love?

Minor niggles aside, this is a slick way to keep control of multiple social networks.

THE BOTTOM LINE

If you like the Tweetdeck styling this is an impressive Android social networker.

    The Good

Great interface, Seamless integration,Can carry accounts over via TweetDeck account.

    The Bad

Can be a big drain on battery life, No Google+ integration (Yet), Has notificaton on Two-Three year old tweets, still retains ability to add Google Buzz accounts,Mobile version has no LinkedIn integration

    The Comments

I used to like using tweetdeck on my android phone, as it had an amazing interface and it was able to sync my accounts from the desktop version.

My main complaint is that upon openening the application for the first time, it gave me a notifcation saying I had over 3k tweets, which were all from three years ago, I spent over an hour scrolling through these tweets to remove the notification, and get back to my most recent tweets.

I also noticed that tweetdeck consumed more battery life than the official twitter app.

Also worth mentioning is the app, on all platforms still has the ability to add a google Buzz account despite Google getting rid of Google Buzz. While this does not affect the app’s performance, it’s something that personally annoyed me.
It shows that TweetDeck is obviously not as up-to-date as it would have us believe.

None the less though it servs as an amazing Twitter and Facebook client, but it is as no where near as powerful as the desktop version.

Love this App - best of them all. Multi social connector. Works a treat.

    The Bad

Images don't show up like as in Chrome deck or Desktop Deck versions, also making list not available (i go back to Desktop version to do this)
