THE STORY
Read and write 140-character messages in Twitter’s own app. The Home page – a feature the iPhone app lacks- is especially handy. It guides you to tweets, replies, direct messages as well as trends and even lists, if you’ve created those or people you’re following have.
THE EXPERIENCE
Twitter has provided a fun-to-use Android app with lots of flourishes. Pull the list of tweets down and it springs back to refresh it.
Swipe across the screen and you load a ribbon of options including reply, retweet and even share by Facebook, Gmail and other methods. This swipe also provides you with others’ bio and other details. Annoyingly, you can’t swipe the other way to return to the homescreen – you’sre stuck with using the back button.
You can set the refresh interval to suit and there are choices for photo upload services and URL shortening. And if you’re thirsting to know what’s hot right now, the trends page is a useful guide – on the iPhone this is just an afterthought on the Search page.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Highly impressive Twitter client that keeps you bang up to date with tweets.
