THE STORY
Food – love it or hate it, you’re not going to last very long without it. And the best kind of food, as we all know, is food cooked by someone with the catering clout of a culinary king or queen. So if you fancy skipping the skillet tonight and enjoying epicurean delights out and about, but don’t know the right place to patronise, welcome to Zagat…
THE EXPERIENCE
Some people have the good fortune to be able to dine out every night. These are normally people who have the most strikingly designed, ultimately equipped, immaculately kept kitchens at home; and they keep them that way by never using them. We call these people ‘the rich’ and have little to do with them.
For the average Joe, however, an evening out at the likes of The Gilded Truffle is a rare treat and, if like us, you’ve spent the whole week slaving over a hot keyboard and are considering spending what there is of your disposable income on some restaurant-based respite from work, you want to make sure you’re making the right choice; which is exactly where Zagat comes into its own.
Re-built from the ground up by Google, Zagat covers the best restaurants in the world’s largest cities (majority US-based at the moment), offering the most precise food fancier’s searcher yet with 100+ filters to let you pinpoint the exact eatery to treat your taste-buds, by cuisine, location, reviews and scores from other Zagat users, special features and, of course, cost.
From here you can book, follow the flagged Google Map to get there, eat and even leave your own review too advise the next food forager. Now that’s service.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Free and easy to use, Zagat’s coverage may currently be limited to larger cities, but as it expands its way to global domination it could well become the go-to restaurant resource for the culinary curious…
