Massive, illustrated exercise-guide able to log workouts or track your progress

The best-selling fitness app for the iPhone has been re-made for Android with most of its functions intact (iPhone users do get an extra calorie-counter, although there have been complaints about its accuracy).
What Android users do get are the details of more than 200 different exercises, all with photographs and some offering video too. You will, however, need a reasonable internet-connection to view these.

ICE: In Case of Emergency
Displays vital medical information on top of your phoneâ

ICE is a great concept, first dreamed up by a British paramedic five years ago. The initial idea was to encourage individuals to put details of any allergies, medical conditions, doctors’ details and emergency numbers under a contact called ICE in their phone’s address book, where medics could then access it even if you were unconscious.
The rise of the smartphone soon scuppered that noble intention, because so many people started to lock their screens for security reasons, cutting off a paramedic’s access to the address book. Sounds like a fine job for an app if ever there was one. read more

From benevolent Uncle Google himself comes My Tracks, an all-purpose tracking app suitable for walkers, runners, cyclists and any other stats-obsessed exercisers. It uses the handset’s GPS-feature to monitor your movements as you work up a sweat and then spits all this data back at you when you want to see exactly where you’ve been or how long it took.
