A long time ago… George Lucas used to be a hero of mine. As a child his first trilogy of Star Wars movies were my favourite three films, transporting me to his world of evil empires, cowboys in space and a mysterious power known only as The Force. Then he made The Phantom Menace and left me confused and fearful of what was to follow. Then he wheeled out Attack of the Clones which just made me angry. And, finally, he released Revenge of the Sith and my transition to the Dark Side was complete.
What this teaches us about Georgie the Hutt is that he likes money; a lot. So the latest addition to Rovio’s Angry Birds cannon should come as about as much of a surprise as that moon being there. Wait… that’s no moon…
Due to hit Google Play on November 8th like a T-16 bulls-eying womp rats, all we know so far, other than John Williams’ score being used to soundtrack the app, is what we can glean from the images released, with the familiar red bird rocking the role of Luke, the yellow bird Falconing it up as Han and the black bird dodging off with the droids you WERE looking for as Obi Wan, alongside the use of lightsabre lookalike catapults and assaults against Imperial pigs.
Naturally, there’ll also be merchandise galore on offer to coincide with the release, including board games, plush toys and fancy dress costumes, which we have no doubt will shift faster than the jump to hyperspace.
Guaranteed to be a huge hit, my personal issues with Jar-Jarge Lucas betraying and killing my childhood aside, as both an Angry Birds fan and massive Sci-Fi geek, expect a full, gushing review the day after launch!
Fancy a teaser? Head here you will.
