This weekend sees the annual Le Mans 24 Hours race. It pits man and machine against one of the longest, most challenging circuits in the world day and night for a full 24 hours. Admittedly, there are generally three drivers per car – it wouldn’t exactly be safe to let someone drive at over 200mph for an entire day.
Audi UK has kindly taken it upon itself to provide the definitive Android guide to the greatest race in the world and it’s available for free in Android Market now.
Audi’s app – naturally we might add – has rather an Audi bent, covering only Audi cars and providing exhaustive data about Audi drivers and more, shall we say, scant data about other teams and drivers. However, it also has a comprehensive schedule, circuit map and even a variety of routes you might like to take to the circuit from Calais.
Audi’s keen to point out that the Le Mans guide is a series of ‘apps within apps’ and we have to admit at first glance it’s been designed in more of an iPad magazine style than as a straightforward information app, with touch hotspots, bags of video content (including the brilliant ‘day in the life of’ AR video) and scrolling picture galleries. Check out some screenshots below.
The race, in case you didn’t know, takes place this weekend (11th/12th June) and you can keep up-to-date with the latest team news, stats and commentary from the official Le Mans radio station. A must for motorsport fans.
