Hands On: GOCLEVER TAB R974

Tablet taking time now as we get hands-on with one of the latest models onto the market, the GOCLEVER TAB R974, a natty little number that, whilst adhering firmly to Android tab tradition with a name that possesses all the sex appeal of a shave-neglecting Susan Boyle, delivers all the best of the open source OS.

With a 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 processor at its heart, the 9.7-inch capacitive display toting R974 comes with a price-tag belying spec list that includes 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Wi-Fi 80211 b/g/n, 1x Mini HDMI, a micro SD slot, a Micro USB, 2-megapixel front and back cameras, a 1W speaker and, of course, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean running the whole show.

Lightweight and slim as a supermodel at an obesity-beating 660g and 10mm thick, a full charge will give you a more than reasonable six hours of interwebbing via its super slick and swift user interface.

The only thing missing from the mix, however, is the inclusion of in-built Bluetooth, but with Micro USB dongles available for mere pennies, it’s less of an issue and more just me trying to find fault where there isn’t any.

With a screen surround wide enough to hold in one hand comfortably without accidentally opening apps, the £179 GOCLEVER R974 feels far more robust than many other ‘entry level’ Android operators, and for someone looking for a pocket-pleasing, reliable and responsive first step into the Google OS arena you’ll not do better for such a piffling price.

Go grab your GOCLEVER here.

I like the sound of this android tablet, also like the prices. Does it come with UK warranties?

GoClever have obviously taken on board your advice and released the second Version: R974.2, which does indeed come with Bluetooth! I have used GoClever for the past 3 years, and found their products to be superb value for money, who consistently ensure that their products are well spec’d and current. Viva Goclever!

That was quick! Clearly my opinion holds mighty sway…
