Time for some textual healing as Android gets its own version of iMessage with more in the fine form of MightyText…
Developed by ex-Googleites Amit Sangani and Maneesh Arora, MightyText is a messaging marvel that lets Android owners text all and sundry from any device, be it smartphone, PC or tablet, using their existing number, with full instant notification appearing on all systems as soon as messages are received.
With no additional charges applied on top of your standard SMS, it’s a simple matter of downloading the MightyText app from Google Play, an extension for the relevant web browser and, once that’s done, you’re free to send SMS from your computer to anyone, anywhere. Plus, all info and messages are subsequently stored in the cloud and synced with all linked devices, keeping data saved and safe.
Originally launched under the Russell Brand-esque name of ‘Texty’ back in March of last year before being renamed as the far superior sounding MightyText in June, the app already boasts a quarter of a million users, with Arora claiming some two million messages a day already winging their way via the app and usage figures expected to break the one billion mark imminently.
Download the MightyText app now and let us know how you find this new world of flexibility.
