MOGA Controller Coming in October

Hot on the heels of last Thursday’s player-pleasing news of the pocket-sized iMpulse Bluetooth keyring controller kicking off its Kickstarter campaign, further gaming goodness seems set to be coming Android’s way as soon as October: the MOGA from PowerA…

Available from October 21st for the piffling price of US $50, the MOGA is a Bluetooth enabled app controlling (slightly larger than the miniscule iMpulse) dock-case for your smartphone that sets out to save you from streaky screens and free you from the fumble of virtual buttons.

Of course, all that glistens etc, so starting with the bad news first, unlike the iMpulse that will play nice with apps of all walks of life, the MOGA will only work with those developed in partnership with the portable pad. However, the good news is that deals have already been struck with the likes of Gameloft, Sega, Atari, Remedy, Bandai and Namco, so there’s an embarrassment of righteous app riches ready to be rolled out with launch, including the likes of Duke Nukem 3D, N.O.V.A 3, Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode II and Sky Gamblers: Rise of Glory, to name but a few.

Featuring dual joysticks and a button layout that will be hearteningly familiar to gamers of any age, the MOGA will connect and control ‘MOGA Enhanced Games’ on any Bluetooth-enabled Android device, so whilst your tablet is clearly not going to benefit from the dock-case design, you still can reap the rewards of wireless, touchscreen-dodging control on the go.
