Pocket PC For Smart TV

Thanks to my position here at the fore of the Android technology revolution, a lot of people come up to me and say: “Hey, you! Get out of my garden!” Others, although considerably fewer, have also approached me and asked: “Hey, Android obsessive! What’s going to be the next big thing?” And as of today the most obvious answer to me is this: the Favi SmartStick.

The latest in an ever growing line of stick PCs, the Favi SmartStick joins the recently released ranks of the MK802 and the UG802, but takes the concept that one step further. Yes, it’s a pocket-sized PC available in either 4- or 8GB capacities, yes it comes packing a USB 2.0 port, a mini USB and a micro SD card slot, yes its Wi-Fi enabled, and yes it runs on Android 4.0 (Jelly Bean) meaning you can download apps from Google Play to your heart’s desire. But where the Favi really ups the ante is with the addition of an HDMI port that lets you plug the mini marvel directly into your TV for instant access to 720p or 1080p content directly from the stick’s storage or over your Wi-Fi network. Brilliant.

What’s more, further setting itself apart from its pint-sized predecessors, the Favi also has an optional remote in the shape of a keyboard and touchpad to let you navigate the SmartStick, play all your apps and surf the internet from the comfort of your sofa.

As of yet there’s no word on what processor is being used, but with a shipping date of October 30th, we’ll be expecting that info soon, so watch this space.

Available for pre-order now at US $49 for the SmartStick (4GB, US $79 for the 8GB) and US $39 for the remote, there really is no cheaper or more convenient way to convert your boring old goggle box into a smart TV in an instant.
