Rumours have been quashed and records set over at Google’s Mountain View HQ in a day already fat with Android fact. Firstly, open-source OS founder and head at the Big G, Andy Rubin, will not be leaving the company following rumours to the contrary circulating online. In a statement posted on Google+ Rubin responded with: “How a rumor gets factualized: Cloudcar are a group of friends who I give free office space to in my incubator in Los Altos. Revel Touch is another cool company that shares this space. I’m not joining either one and I don’t have any plans to leave Google. See you on the 27th*!”
Alongside Rubin’s resignation rebuttal comes equally good news that the rise of Android continues unabated, with a staggering 900,000 devices being activated each and every day. The new figure, released in a tweet from – you guessed it – Android head Andy Rubin (actually in conjunction with his initial exit denial), means the platform has enjoyed an increase of 50,000 since February figures were released, and that’s a rapid rise in anyone’s book.
So, as the headline reads: Rubin Remains, Android On The Up – who says the only news is bad news?
