The Week in Android

Woooooo! Yes, with the aid of an ever-so-slightly camp visual sound effect, I’ve managed to convey the fact that, although the week has once more come to a sudden, savage stop, giving way to the free-wheeling weekend, the festival of fear and celebration of all thing vaguely Hellish, Halloween, is almost here!

To that end, the latter half of the week just gone saw us lean heavily on the All Hallows link, promoting carved-pumpkin-esque creations from the afterlife of apps guaranteed to send sinister shivers down the spines of smartphones everywhere… or something. Did I say “Woooooo!”?

Apart from all that Americanised nonsense, we’ve also used the week to investigate the future of Android-control in lighting, how the open source OS is being used to break down the language barriers and even managed to slip in a tenuous link to Bond – that’s a hearty helping of Android fact for anyone.

So head on in… Not suitable for people with heart conditions. Wooooo! I’ll stop that now.

THE APPS

X-Plane 9

Learn to skillfully fly a sky-full of planes without any of the epic costs incurred in enrolling in flight school or, indeed, the worry of suddenly plummeting from said sky with all the skill of a breezeblock with the top of the aviation app class. Take your seats and buckle up on LOA Airlines here.

Gun Zombie: Halloween

Dislike the undead? Fond of your Facebook status of ‘Still Alive’, then lock and load because you’re going to love the Gun Zombie Halloween special! Cunningly trading just-zombies for all manner of grave-dodging ghouls, get into the spirit here.

Infinite Monsters

Excellent, uncomplicated, shoot ’em up fun, if the idea of facing an ever-oncoming army of evil set to the soundtrack of a wailing electric guitar appeals to you, then app-up and follow LOA’s trail of dead
