Spotify’s reign as the best music app for Android has been pretty imperious for sometime now, not least since the Swedish streaming service announced its partnership with Facebook last month. The imminent December release of Pure Music in the UK, which charges a monthly fee of only £5, however could see that scandinavian crown slip a little.
Music on-demand, internet radio and other programs will be available in just over a month for PCs, iOS devices or one of Pure’s WiFi capable devices with an Android app soon to follow for the service. Although Pure Music doesn’t seem to offering any drastically new features, the Tag bookmarking system on one of Pure’s radios allows you access those highlighted tracks on your smartphone or computer as well.
So what’s the catch we hear you cry? Well a £5 subscription won’t hand you offline access to the tunes you want to listen to, that service is still in the works and it’s going to cost you more.

Given that Spotify already works on both Sonos and Squeezebox, I don’t see how another music subscription service with a lesser catologue expects to compete (except, of course, on price).
