'Android will keep getting exploited' claims smartphone hacking expert

Mobile hacking experts have predicted a ‘bad future’ for Android in the face of an increased malware threat.

Speaking at the Black Hat Europe conference, Dan Guido, a researcher for security firm Trail of Bits, claimed Google Play’s weak app submission system means that Android owners are an easier target for hackers than users of Apple’s iOS. read more

Android loophole allows apps to spy on your photo library

Android handsets suffer from a security defect allowing malicious apps to snoop on user images, according to a New York Times investigation.

Any app that is granted permission to send data over the internet can take advantage of the loophole. This allows it to copy photos to a remote server without the knowledge of smartphone owners. read more

McAfee: 'Android still the biggest smartphone malware target'

Android malware reached a record high during the close of 2011, according to new figures from McAfee.

Although global malware occurrences had totalled at least 65 million by August last year, that figure was found to have grown through Q4 to over 75 million. read more
