Google Maps 5.3 for Android introduces location history dashboard
Check-in at home and own aspects for places also added
Google has been busy updating its fantastic Maps app with some cool little features based around its Foursquare-style Latitude service. First up is the introduction of a home check-in function. When you’re sat on the sofa in the homestead, just add your location as home – or add your address manually – and it will appear in your list of nearby places. Naturally Google is hot on piracy issue and only nominated friends can see your location only when you’ve checked-in.
The Big G has clearly introduced this ‘home; check-in facility so it can neatly integrate it into its new Location History Dashboard. This can be accessed through your Latitude profile and gives estimations of how much time you spend at home, at work or in the pub, as well how far you’ve travelled. If you’re up to nefarious doings then you can also delete you location history to keep it strictly on the down-low. read more
