Google continues efforts to withdraw damaging email from Oracle case
Internal memo states 'we need to negotiate a license for Java'
Google are still vigorously contesting whether a damning emailing should be admitted as evidence in their lawsuit with Oracle . The internal memo written by employee Tim Lindholm was written in a response to Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who had asked staff “to investigate what technical alternatives exist to Java for Android.”
“We have been over a bunch of these and think they all suck,” surmised Lindholm before adding, “We conclude that we need to negotiate a license for Java.” read more

Google refused application to seal damaging Java memo from Oracle lawsuit
Email stating 'We need to negotiate a license for Java' won't be forgotten
An internal Google memo suggesting the company should pay for a Java license for use in its Android OS will be not be sealed and redacted from its lawsuit with Oracle.
The ruling by Judge William Alsup was filed yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and asserted, since the email was an incomplete draft, it was not “protected by the attorney-client privilege.” read more

Amazon bars Android Appstore submissions following Apple lawsuit
German Appstore is under legal seige
Amazon’s German Appstore has blocked developers from submitting new apps following a lawsuit from Apple.
In the US, Apple and Amazon have been locked in a legal battle since March over rights to the term ‘App Store’. Apple claim they’ve trademarked ‘App Store’ for their exclusive use, Amazon clearly disagree, but today’s news is the first instance of the case spreading to Europe. read more
