Opera Mini 6 and Mobile 11 for Android support Flash video
Tablet tailored versions of web browsers also available
Last Friday Life of Android gave you a heads up that Opera’s new Mini 6 and Mobile 11 web browsers were due to drop this week. At the time we didn’t have any news on features and only a rumour of an optimised tablet version to hang on. Well, now these apps are available to download from the Android Market we can give you a quick run through of what’s new in the world of Opera.

Opera also rumoured to be prepping tablet-optimised browser
When it comes to alternatives to Google’s WebKit browser, Android users are spoilt for choice. Free apps like Dolphin HD, Skyfire and Mozilla Firefox are all worthy of becoming your default web browser. You can also definitely add Opera to that list, especially now the company has announced its new Mini 6 and Mobile 11 browsers for Android might be available to download next week.
Right now details on these browser’s new features are non-existent – we should know more when Opera spills the beans at the CTIA show in Orlando next week – but there are rumblings that it will be test driving a tablet optimised browser in Florida. Whether that includes Android 3.0 Honeycomb slates is anyone’s guess.
If you’re a tad confused about the difference between Opera Mini and Opera Mobile then let Life of Android help you out. Both use Opera’s Presto browser engine and deliver similar features, interface design and experience. However, on Opera Mobile Presto is installed on the phone while it sucks web pages directly from the web server and renders them like a desktop browser. read more
