Android trumps Appple's iOS with 48 per cent US market share

Android is the Number 1 smartphone OS in America with a 48.6 per cent market share, according to new figures from ComScore.

Over the three months ending January 2012, Google’s hold over American mobile owners strengthened by 2.3 per cent. Apple’s iOS also increased its market share to 29.5 per cent from 28.1 per cent in October last year. read more

Despite Windows Phone’s continuing struggle to find a userbase, Micorsoft are still predicting its battle with Android to last  ”multiple decades”.

Speaking to CNET, Aaron Woodman, director for Windows Phone, promised Windows 8 would prove the platform’s turning point in an arduous “tooth and nail” battle with Google’s own smartphone OS. read more
